File Host Update

The file host I use for uploading the .zip files (drop.so) has finally fixed the problem relating to the xml error.  All the download links should be live now.

File Host Issues (drops.so)

If you have tried to download a wallpaper set in the past couple of days, you may have noticed that once you went to the file hosting site (drp.so), and clicked download that it gave a weird XML error.  I have contacted the support team of the drops site, but so far they have not responded.  Until the error is fixed, for all new wallpaper sets I will use ge.tt file hosting for the .zip files.  As for the old wallpaper sets that have links to the drops site, you will have to download the wallpapers one by one, as I don’t have the time currently to reupload all the dead links.  Thanks for the understanding,

Ben

2012 in review

Courtesy of the staff at wordpress, here’s a year end report of all the site stats of the past year.  Thanks to all of my readers who made this possible:)

Here’s an excerpt:

About 55,000 tourists visit Liechtenstein every year. This blog was viewed about 4,000,000 times in 2012. If it were Liechtenstein, it would take about 73 years for that many people to see it. Your blog had more visits than a small country in Europe!

WordAds Activated

Quick Update:  You might remember that a couple months ago I mentioned that I had submitted an application for WordPress’s ad service, WordAds.  Well, today I finally was accepted into their program and now you will see a couple banner ads on top and on the right of the page.  Hopefully I’ll eventually get enough money to offset the cost of maintaining (domain name cost) this site:)  Also, since this blog now has ads, I’ll try to find time to increase the posting output to 2 posts per week until June, and in the summer maybe 3-4 posts per week.  If you have any comments about this change (or anything else) please post in the comment section below.

Thanks,

Ben

Changes Coming to Awesome Wallpapers

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that there will be some changes happening to this site over the next couple of days. The first one is a new domain name.  I will be purchasing the awesomewallpapersblog.com domain name and traffic will be automatically redirected to that domain instead of awesomewallpapers.wordpress.com.  Purchasing a new domain name allows for greater visibility to search engines, and for different features to be available.  One of those features is the ability to display ads (via wordpress’ ad system, WordAds). I have submitted an application for WordAds, and if everything works well in the process of setting it up, I will experiment with it and try to find a good system of displaying the ads.  I hate annoying ads just as much as the normal user, so the ads I’ll put on my blog will be non-obtrusive.   Displaying ads on my blog will pay for the cost of hosting the new domain, and also help me (hopefully) in paying for college.  I currently am very busy with school, but I also will try to post with more regularity.

Feel free to leave a comment below if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Ben (Admin)

Change in posting frequency

I’m sorry for the lack of posting during the past few weeks.  I usually try to post a wallpaper set two times a week, but with my current homework load, its been hard to even get one posted.  Until the month of June (when school ends for the summer) expect 1, and maybe (if I have time) 2 wallpaper sets a week. Thanks for your understanding,

Ben

P.S. For now I’m sticking with small wallpaper previews because the large previews caused some usability issues.
